Hello Monroe Roller Hockey Families, as the end of the school year fast approaches and the summer is upon us, we are organizing for the summer tournament teams (formerly the travel teams). 

MWRHL Travel Team Announcement

Hello all, we are now taking registrations manually for the Summer 2017 Travel Teams, AKA Tournament Teams, in order to form teams and find coaches, sponsors and team managers.  Any current or former member of Monroe Roller Hockey League is eligible to play and we may allow outside players to participate as well, depending upon the participation level.  Please email monroerollerhockeyleague@gmail.com with your intent to register and include if you are able to help Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manage (consists of emailing team info, researching & booking Hotels for teams, etc) or if you would like to sponsor a team.  Any good travel program takes the hard work of the parents to volunteer their time & efforts to make it an enjoyable experience for all.  We have the first tournament on July 15 & 16th, so letting us know of your interest as soon as possible would be a big help.

In the past we would play a limited number of games against local competition (Mahopac & West Haverstraw most commonly) as warm-ups for the Tournaments, and that may or may not happen depending upon the coaches who coach these teams.

Right now we would like to field teams for the following Divisions, and the age requirement is listed next to the Division:

10u  Division – Kids with birth years of 2006 or 2007, and for girls they allow to be 1 year older so also 2005 for girls.

12u  Division – Kids with birth years of 2004 or 2005, and for girls they allow to be 1 year older so also 2003 for girls.

14u  Division – Kids with birth years of 2002 or 2003, and for girls they allow to be 1 year older so also 2001 for girls.

The tournament experience is a fun getaway usually requiring 1 nights stay in a hotel near the event  (usually around $150) & we try to keep the team all together in the same hotel and the kids & parents really enjoy their time on & off the rink together.  Nutmeg has been a lot of fun the last couple summers.  The cost involved will depend on how many kids the coaches bring to each Tournament, the average cost for a team is around $500, so if 10 players were brought it would be approximately $50 per kid for just the registration fee for that tournament, we have been using our regular season Jerseys for the Tournaments the last couple of years to keep the costs low, but that would be up to the coach also.  Please note, without coaches we can not participate.  We currently have coaches committed for the 14u team only.

- 10u (7 am to 3 PM) @ 8/19

- 12u (7 am to 3 PM) @ 8/20

- 14u (10 am to 8 PM) @ 8/19
